Meditate, Meditate, Meditate. For those of you who attended my Monday evening meditations classes, you know I’m huge on daily meditation. It’s healthy, it requires no special skills or special equipment. All you need is a little time alone, your imagination and your breath.
I am going to give you a couple of tools to aid you in your meditation practice at home. I would also encourage you to look to your community and see if there are meditation groups you can join. I love group meditation as much as I enjoy my personal alone time. If you’re not sure where to look, meetup.com is a great place to start or email me and I may be able to point you in the right direction.
Creating Sacred Space
To create sacred space within you need only your imagination. Close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths and as you relax, start building the place of your dreams. Somewhere that is special to you, don’t limit yourself. It can be a castle, a field or a crystal palace, add colour, smell, dimension. Make the picture in your mind as detailed as possible. You can add to it each time you visit or create a new space. This is where you get to be yourself, to be powerful and in control of your environment and thoughts. Do this exercise daily, give yourself 10 or 15 minutes per day just to sit and BE. Bring your awareness to the present moment instead of worrying about yesterday and tomorrow.
Each week add 5 minutes to your meditation time. If you’re having a problem and need insight try this: Once relaxed and in your sacred space, say this mantra, “my higher self is stronger than_____”, say it until you feel more personal power. Let the energy build then form a picture of what the problem might look like, make the picture smaller and smaller with each breath until it fits in your hand, raise the palm of your hand to your mouth and blow. Watch the problem be taken by the wind and disappear. Allow a feeling of happiness to wash over you and when you bring yourself back, record any insights or ideas. The more you practice this the easier it becomes to bring awareness to what is important but also to develop new problem solving skills. You only need a belief in yourself and faith.
I will add to this page periodically and if you have any questions, feel free to email, firstname.lastname@example.org
